He graduated in the stream of Biosciences in 2003 at UNESP (Brazil). After the graduation he obtained a master degree in Chemistry under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Vanderlan da Silva Bolzani at the Chemistry Institute of Araraquara (UNESP) and studied the cyclic peptides from Brazilian higher plants. Under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Elke Dittmann, he received his PhD degree (2013) at the University of Potsdam on molecular microbial ecology focused on discovery of novel natural products from cyanobacterial field samples. His research interests include phytochemistry, discovery of novel microbial bioactive compounds through metagenomics and peptide and polyketides biosynthesis.

Flavia holds a special interest in nutrion and diets in Chinese Medicine.She has taken Dr Tan's Balanced Method Course 2014 in London and is able to apply its technique in clinic when required. She has been a member of the British Acupuncture Council (BAcC) since 2014.Flavia recently has attended the Si Yuan Balanced Method in Copenhagen (DK), which granted her the knowledge, the ability and the certificate to practice Si Yuan Balanced Method in clinic. This method enables the practitioner using it, to see immediate results in their treatments straight after needling. It combines 20 years of Dr. Tan's studies and clinical experience in a systematic method. She has also attended the course: Acupuncture for Fertility and IVF support by Paul Johnson. This course is certified by the AFN, The Acupuncture Fertility Network. Flavia Dale is also a member of the Cosmetic Acupuncture UK association
